Sculpting A Design With Beach Art
52
There is art to be seen in every place that we look. No other can be so delicate as beach art that it can be destroyed with nothing more than a strong wind. Its form is like no other. The child who simply plays in the sand today may easily become the artist of tomorrow.
If you are an aficionado of the sand and sea, you already have the palette on which to place your beach art. Above the high tide yet low enough to be fed by the water, the sand you need has to be of the right consistency. Too dry and your artwork will not hold its shape. Too wet and again it will not hold. The balance has to be seen in the sand and water that holds its shape.
We watch the children play for hours with nothing but a pail and a small shovel. Give an accomplished artist a fork, a knife, a spatula, some brushes, and a few sticks and they will make you thing of beauty. The most important ingredient of all is the talent within their hands to sculpt the many wonders that they see in their minds eye.
This style of tropical art is painstakingly put together. An artist should not be disrupted by others. It is best suited that a masterpiece is created away from others. An area that is desolate, undisturbed and the sand is free of debris. The basis of your sculpture is of vital importance with the sand in a perfect consistency.
Most will sketch their creations in the sand first. It needs not be elaborate but an idea for them follow. Applying the wet sand to this simple sketch, it will slowly take on form and be the beginnings of an artistic art piece.
You can use a large wooden box, or perhaps a small barrel. Packed tightly and then released in a mound on the beach, it will be the piece that is used to begin your creation. A piece taken from one spot and some sand added to another, it slowly becomes a piece that is the imagination at work to show others what we see.
Some may feel that this is overrating an art form that uses nothing but sand. Still, if you have had the good fortune to see it for yourself first hand you will quickly realize that if nothing else, its beauty is difficult to describe. So very many of the designs are awe inspiring in their minute detail knowing that no other medium was used other than damp sand.
Popularity continues to rise in beach art. Competitions are often held where one would be hard pressed to judge which is the best and deserving of first place or second place. All are deserving of an award. Inspiration for this style of art comes from various ideas, from beach decor,a family vacation or even day to day activities or maybe even a hobby. Art can be done using any number of mediums and sand art has found its place among them. The present record to be beaten is a piece that stands at a height of 31.7 inches.
