Using Hawaiian Bedding And Other Touches To Recreate The Islands In Your Own Home
The biggest problem with vacationing in Hawaii is the temptation to forget your real life and spend the rest of your days lying on the warm beaches. Just because you were unable to physically stay in Hawaii does not mean that you can never revisit the way you felt while you were staying there. The use of Hawaiian bedding, island themed art, decorative shells, and other Hawaiian themed accents in your bedroom will make it feel like you are still in the island each time you step into the room.
You don't have to limit your island themed decorating scheme; if you want you can allow it to spread over your entire home. The choice is yours. The best way to make sure that the makeover looks and feels authentic; you should collect bits and pieces of Hawaii and bring them home with you. You can turn these trinkets into the focal point of your Hawaiian themed room.
The best place to start your bedroom makeover is your walls. You need to think of your walls as blank canvas. There are so many things you can do with them. If you can find a wallpaper that reminds you of Hawaii, by all means paper the bedroom walls. If you aren't satisfied with the wallpaper selections, you should paint your walls. You will want to choose a color that gives you the same sense of peace you experienced during you vacation.
The Hawaiian bedding you choose for you newly made over bedroom is very important. Like the walls, the bedding should make you think of the islands. You also want to choose a style of bedding the complements your personal style. For some this might mean a bright tropical print, while others are pulled towards a calming ocean theme. Don't settle for something unless you are completely happy with the bedding.
One of the great things about having visited in Hawaii is that you will be able to use photos that you took in your bedroom makeover. These photos will be completely unique to you. After choosing your favorite photos you can arrange them in a grouping that shows off your artwork. Shadowboxes are also fun for displaying photos and souvenirs
Did you bring home seashells you collected or some flowers you dried while you were in Hawaii? These can also be used in your bedroom makeover. The shells can be put in a pretty, clear glass jar and placed on a shelf or table. You can place the dried flowers in a vase that stands on your night stand, or hang it in a frame. Both the shells and flowers will look very nice in a shadowbox, Hawaiian posters and postcards can also be used.
When you started your Hawaiian decor makeover, you should have had one goal: to recreate a space that triggered the feelings of rest and relaxation you enjoyed during your time on the islands. Everything in the room, from your new Hawaiian bedding to your window treatments should trigger a flood of memories. When the makeover is completed, it should be the place you go when you need a few minutes to find yourself.
