Whether you are planning an action packed adventure consisting of water sports and an exploration of sea life, or a relaxed, sun drenched beach vacation, these useful tips will assist you when planning and preparing for your trip. They will also help you avoid any last minute hiccups that may put a damper on your holiday mood.

The first thing to do is make a checklist of all the jobs that must be done before you plan to go away. If you are driving to the airport or your destination, you will need to do a maintenance check on your car. In addition, you should make a list of things to pack, and book your flights and accommodation. Planning ahead will ensure you are not stressed out and pressured for time.

If you are traveling with family you should plan entertainment for different age groups. Consider what type of activities you and your family would like to do on a beach vacation, and remember to pack suitable games. Include a bucket and spade for the younger children.

Exotic locations may require a little more research. Make sure you check what type of beach and water activities are available, and what equipment is provided. You do not want to be excluded from certain things for lack of preparation. Your packing list must include essential items such as towels, swimsuits, sunglasses, sarongs, shorts, t-shirts, sandals and hats.

Pack a sunscreen with a high SPF. The last thing you want to do is spoil your beach vacation by getting sunburned on the first day of your holiday. Take bottled water with you, since it is easy to dehydrate without even realizing it. It is also a good idea to take a few snacks that will last in the warmth of the sun.

Remember to take a rest away from the heat. Find yourself a nice shady spot to take a break. It is easy to forget the sun can have harmful effects even if you spend most of your time in water. Keeping an eye on yourself and other members of your family is essential.

Planning a beach vacation on a budget takes a little extra thought. If you decide to do without deluxe accommodation or you choose to drive to your destination, you will need to remember to pack items that would normally have been provided for you. Things to consider include a first aid kit, beach chairs and umbrellas. By preparing beforehand you can avoid being caught off guard.
